Today, I got a chance to work on Indiwin AJAX chat room. Now whenever a new message come, title bar of the browswer is updated with new message. Earlier, if you keep your chat window minimized and a new message comes. You would never know that a new message has come unless you actually see the page. Now you can see the last message sent also appearing on title bar of the browser.

Secondly, in Firefox it was appending a character \0 before every message. I did following workaround.

I replaced document.send_form.mbody.value=’\0′; by document.send_form.mbody.value=”";. IE 7 doesn’t insert ‘\0′ before every message.

Thirdly, when I clear the chat window, Firefox gives XmlHttpRequest error. Just press OK button in the pop window. This error doesn’t come in IE7.

I made AJAX based chat room this weekend. It’s almost functionally working. However I got some XML error in firefox. So far no error in IE. In case you get a pop window displaying some error message just press ok. I will fix it soon.

I do not believe in using fancy software. As far as possible I make them on my own. There are plenty of chat softwares available on the net. But Indiwin AJAX Chat Room is neat, clean, simple, friendly and easy to use.

Since this chat room is on a subdomain I had copy all the include files to this subdomain from main domain. It still might have couple of bugs. I will fix it soon. Its an open chat room. Anyone can enter. No registration. Just select a nickname and click on “Enter to to chat room>>”. Why dont you try it here
